New year, new me? Not necessarily.

Happy new year! (I’m not late, we’re still in the Chinese New Year period 😏)
I hope you were able to take a break to spend time with loved ones (in whatever capacity possible) over the holidays. I don’t know about you but I really felt like downtime was needed after one heck of a 2021.
So as per every start of the year, there’s a lot around about new year resolutions. But I recently watched a video from Levi & Leah (definitely check them out, I love their videos and they’re based out of Victoria BC) where they talked about why they don’t make resolutions. I felt like somebody finally said it perfectly, how I’ve felt about resolutions all along, I’ve never liked them. In the past whenever somebody asked about my new year resolutions I kind of just made stuff up on the spot, pulled from whatever was on my mind at the moment. Did you know that up to 80% of all people who make new years resolutions abandon those resolutions by the second week of January?
I think for some it can be really motivating and a great way to set intentions for the year, but for me it’s always been daunting because throughout the year I enjoy self development books/audiobooks and it’s constantly on my mind about how I can make small changes or improvements that will have long term effects. Whether that be how I spend time with my family or changes around our every day routine that makes our lifestyle more sustainable and earth-friendly. Especially with the way things have gone the past couple of years, I don’t think that we necessarily need to put more pressure on ourselves just because a new year has started. Trying our best throughout the year is good enough and much more important to be consistent that way, having the mindset of bettering ourselves wherever we can.
All of that is to say I would like to do the same with Jacquelyn Pearce Jewelry. I would like to be in touch more, have more meaningful conversations, and give myself more time to be inspired and create. I would like to take it one day at a time, and the first step is simply to write this down. So I don’t believe in the new year, new me bit. I like myself enough to know that I’m doing my best and that’s enough. Here’s to cheering ourselves onwards in the coming year 🥂
